Trace before wiring
Follow power, ground, inputs, processing, and outputs in that order. Never guess a pin from package shape alone.
Connect with power off
Make short, labelled connections and share a common ground only where the schematic requires it.
Inspect every joint
Check continuity, polarity, adjacent shorts, and loose connections before the first power-up.

Confirm the hardware-only control path.
This project does not include firmware in the source. The circuit itself provides the required behaviour.
How to connect
- Match every controller label to the circuit view and source pin map.
- Join grounds before signal wires when separate low-voltage supplies are used.
- Keep motors, relays, pumps, and other loads on a suitable driver and external supply.
Common mistakes
Reversed VCC/GND, board-label versus GPIO-number confusion, missing common ground, and charge-only USB cables.
Troubleshoot
Disconnect loads, continuity-test one path at a time, then test with a current limit.
Software preparation
No IDE, board package, library, or firmware upload is required for this project.
If you add a programmable controller as an extension, document its pin map separately.
How to upload code
The original design is implemented entirely in hardware, so proceed after verifying the circuit and supply.
Assemble, deploy, test, and troubleshoot.

Project overview
Project build noteThis circuit can be used for any type of water supply unit, like a toilet flush or washbasin tap, in homes or small restaurants. The part of the power supply that is made up of IC 7805 (IC1). The input power for IC1 can come from either a 12V solar panel (SP) or a 9V battery. Voltage regulator 7805 provides constant 5V DC to operate the circuit. The transmitter part is made up of the timer 555 (IC2), the npn transistor BC548, the infrared LED1, and a few other separate parts. The NE555 timer is set up as an astable multivibrator. By adjusting the preset VR1, it can make 38kHz pulses. The IR LED1 is powered by the transistor T1, and it sends modulated IR signals up to a few meters away. Figure. The circuit can be divided into three sections: power supply, transmitter and receiver. The receiver section is made up of the TSOP1738 chip, the timer 555 (IC3), and a few other parts. IR LED1 sends out an IR signal, which is picked up by IR receiver TSOP1738. The IR LED and the TSOP1738 are facing each other, so the IR beam from the IR LED goes straight to the TSOP1356. The output of the IR receiver module is sent to trigger pin 2 of IC3. When IC3 is turned on, its output goes high for about ten seconds, depending on how much R6 and C6 weigh. As long as the monostable output is high, relay RL1 stays on. So, the normally-opened (N/O) contacts of relay RL1 supply the solenoid valve with the power it needs. Depending on the kind of solenoid valve, the power supply needs can vary. If a 5V solenoid valve is used, you can get rid of the relay. In this case, you can connect the valve between the collector of transistor T3 and the positive side of 5V. So, when a person's hand gets in the way of the IR beam
coming from the IR transmitter (LED1) on IRX1, the output of the TSOP1738 goes high, which turns on the monostable IC3. The relay turns on for about 10 seconds to open the water supply by moving the solenoid valve. After 10 seconds, the valve shuts again, stopping the flow of water. When the valve is opened, water flows for 10 seconds. If the hand is placed again during that time, the monostable circuit does nothing. Instead, it keeps doing what it's supposed to do. Put the circuit together on a PCB that can be used for many things and put it in a suitable cabinet. Install the IR LED and IRX1 on the side walls of the toilet flush or washbasin so that the IR beam that is sent to the receiver goes straight to it.
