Trace before wiring
Follow power, ground, inputs, processing, and outputs in that order. Never guess a pin from package shape alone.
Connect with power off
Make short, labelled connections and share a common ground only where the schematic requires it.
Inspect every joint
Check continuity, polarity, adjacent shorts, and loose connections before the first power-up.

Confirm the hardware-only control path.
This project does not include firmware in the source. The circuit itself provides the required behaviour.
How to connect
- Match every controller label to the circuit view and source pin map.
- Join grounds before signal wires when separate low-voltage supplies are used.
- Keep motors, relays, pumps, and other loads on a suitable driver and external supply.
Common mistakes
Reversed VCC/GND, board-label versus GPIO-number confusion, missing common ground, and charge-only USB cables.
Troubleshoot
Disconnect loads, continuity-test one path at a time, then test with a current limit.
Software preparation
No IDE, board package, library, or firmware upload is required for this project.
If you add a programmable controller as an extension, document its pin map separately.
How to upload code
The original design is implemented entirely in hardware, so proceed after verifying the circuit and supply.
Assemble, deploy, test, and troubleshoot.
Use the complete source notes in build order, then pass the final checks before calling the project finished.

Project overview
Project build noteDuring the rainy season, earth leakage from electrical wiring is a big problem. Pipelines are less safe from earth leakage and may give you an electric shock when you least expect it. Leakage current through a wet wall could come from electrical machines or faulty wiring. Normal air conditioning testers can't tell if there is an earth leak if the current isn't high enough to turn on a neon light. Parts of mains-powered equipment that are made of metal are connected to an earth wire so that users don't get shocked if the electrical insulation breaks. Connections to ground through earth connection also keep static electricity from building up when handling devices that are sensitive to static electricity. In a mains electrical wiring system, earth is a conductor that provides a low-impedance path to the earth so that dangerous voltages don't show up on equipment. Circuit for earth fault indicator Above figure shows how the earth fault indicator works. A BC547 transistor (T1), two LEDs (LED1 and LED2), two 1N4007 diodes (D1 and D2), and five resistors (R1 through R5) make up the circuit (R1 through R5). Fig: Circuit of earth fault indicator The voltage that appears between the earth and neutral terminals is used by the circuit. In a single-phase circuit, the neutral-to-earth voltage measured at the load is a function of the load current and the impedance of the neutral wire. For a reasonable level of efficiency, different standards limit this voltage drop in a branch circuit to 3% (or 5%
for both the feeder and the branch circuit). Based on this, the neutral-to-earth voltage limit for a single-phase 120V AC circuit is 3.6V AC and for a single-phase 230V AC circuit it is 6.6V AC. This circuit doesn't need any other power source to work. The 230V AC mains supply is the only source of power for the circuit. The 230V AC mains are turned into a low voltage for the circuit by diode D1 and resistor R1. If the earth connection is correct, a transistor switch will turn on the green LED (LED1). As shown in Fig. 2, the base of T1 is connected to the earth pin of the mains supply by a network of resistors R2 and R3.
