Trace before wiring
Follow power, ground, inputs, processing, and outputs in that order. Never guess a pin from package shape alone.
Connect with power off
Make short, labelled connections and share a common ground only where the schematic requires it.
Inspect every joint
Check continuity, polarity, adjacent shorts, and loose connections before the first power-up.
Open all source diagrams and build views 1 visuals

Confirm the hardware-only control path.
This project does not include firmware in the source. The circuit itself provides the required behaviour.
How to connect
- Match every controller label to the circuit view and source pin map.
- Join grounds before signal wires when separate low-voltage supplies are used.
- Keep motors, relays, pumps, and other loads on a suitable driver and external supply.
Common mistakes
Reversed VCC/GND, board-label versus GPIO-number confusion, missing common ground, and charge-only USB cables.
Troubleshoot
Disconnect loads, continuity-test one path at a time, then test with a current limit.
Software preparation
No IDE, board package, library, or firmware upload is required for this project.
If you add a programmable controller as an extension, document its pin map separately.
How to upload code
The original design is implemented entirely in hardware, so proceed after verifying the circuit and supply.
Assemble, deploy, test, and troubleshoot.

Project overview
Project build noteThe electronic thermostat is a piece of standard equipment that is used for monitoring the temperature of a system and ensuring that it is kept at a specific level. It is a component that is frequently found in refrigerators, space heaters, and air conditioners. Although some of the commercially available refrigerators include thermostats as part of their design, the supplied circuit is simple to construct and can be programmed to turn the appliance on or off at a range of temperatures that the user specifies. The temperature in my refrigerator's deep freezer stays between -5 degrees Celsius and -15 degrees Celsius (former temperature switches the fridge on and the latter turns it off).
Electronic thermostat circuit Instead of travelling straight to the refrigerator (or the input of the automatic voltage stabilizer, if one is being used in conjunction with the refrigerator), the 230V AC mains power is routed through the normally open (N/O) contact of relay RL1. The relay contact is closed and the appliance receives 230V AC power when the relay is energized because of the conduction of T2 (BC547). This causes the appliance to begin cooling once it has received power. The LM339 in IC1 is a quad comparator, and it is being put to use as a voltage comparator with hysteresis. The inverting input of integrated circuit 1 is connected to a reference voltage that is derived from Zener diode ZD1 (5.2V), which is then further split by the potential divider arrangement that is given by R3, R5, and VR1. If there is any AC noise, it will be bypassed by the decoupling capacitor C5. Heart of the circuit The temperature sensor consists of a npn silicon transistor with its collector shorted to its base and is located between the non-inverting input of integrated circuit 1 (IC1) and the ground. The temperature-dependent characteristic of the base-emitter junction of the transistor is utilized here as the temperature-sensing property of the transistor. The junction voltage drops by 2 millivolts for every degree as the temperature rises. The reference voltage is set by adjusting trimpot VR1 to a value that is equal to the sensor's junction voltage corresponding to the lower negative temperature, which in this case is -5 degrees Celsius.
